วันนี้มีสหายส่งลิงก์ของ Poor TV มาให้ดู เปิดๆ ไปพบว่าเป็นรายการทีวีออนไลน์ของเด็กรัฐศาสตร์จุฬา (ในลิงก์ไปยังไฟล์ต้นฉบับเป็น home ของ อ. พิชญ์เฉยเลย จอมบงการนี่เอง) ดูไปแป๊บๆ ก็สนุกดี พร้อมกับความรู้สึกที่ว่า เดี๋ยวนี้รายการทีวีออนไลน์ในไทยเริ่มเยอะแล้ว

ผมเคยผ่านตาหน้ารวมรายชื่อเว็บทีวีออนไลน์ในไทย แต่จำ URL ไม่ได้แล้ว (ใครรู้ช่วยมาแปะไว้ด้วย) ถ้าจำไม่ผิดมีประมาณ 10 กว่ารายการ เมื่อรวมกับรายการใหม่ๆ ที่งอกขึ้นมา และรายการย่อยๆ ในเครือใหญ่ก็น่าจะเกิน 30 ได้ ถือว่าไม่น้อย น่าจะเป็นสัญญาณบ่งชี้อะไรได้หลายอย่าง

แวดวงทีวีออนไลน์ในไทยยังเล็กและใหม่มากๆ ส่วนตัวคิดว่ายังไม่มีรายการไหนประสบความสำเร็จในวงกว้าง ยังอยู่ในช่วงลองผิดลองถูก ทดสอบความอดทนกันต่อไป ถือโอกาสมาบันทึกความเห็นตัวเองไว้หน่อยว่า ทีวีออนไลน์ไทยปี 2008 มีสถานะประมาณไหน และจะก้าวต่อไปอย่างไร

Disclaimer: ผมเขียนในฐานะคนดูล้วนๆ เพราะไม่เคยทำรายการทีวีออนไลน์ (เคยไปออก DuoCore 1 ตอน) และพิจารณาความสามารถตัวเองแล้วคิดว่าไม่เหมาะกับการทำทีวีออนไลน์ในอนาคตเช่นกัน

My blogs about Preah Vihear incident was mentioned by Global Voices Online: Cambodian and Thai Bloggers on Disputed Preah Vihear Temple.

Global Voices Online is international citizen media project, funded by Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society (more detail on About page). I discovered it in 2006 since the YouTube incident. Some readers might already know Preetam Rai, yet another Global Voices writer, from some events or twittersphere. This time, Tharum Bun, a Khmer native who wanted to write a Preah Vihear coverage on Global Voices. He also wanted to find opinion from Thai bloggers, then I provided him a rough translation of my blogs.

(Sorry nationalists, if I disappoint you by being Thailand representative, next time please write your own blogs)

There’s nothing new in my part but it’s quite interesting to see the opinion from Cambodian side. I can’t read Khmer and all stories I read are from either Thai or international media (e.g. BBC). So Tharum’s story is worth for discuss.

Something new:

• (At least) one Thai nationalist went on one Khmer’s blog and made some (huge) flame debate.
• Cambodian business people began to run a donation campaign for Cambodian military at the border. (Did we Thai already have this campaign 46 years ago?)
• Situation report from another Global Voices author who is now in the disputed area (Cambodian side).

It’s nearly impossible to understand the whole picture if you hear from only one side. So Tharum’s blog is recommended for all those Thais who are interested in Preah Vihear incident.

My point is still the same: peace is far more important than old ruin temple.

Yesterday I had chance to read some blogs and articles about the future of media industry (especially, news reporting). While each discuss on media direction from different points of view, they all share the same thing: “Traditional media is dying and online/distributed media is rising”.

Here is the list:

• Out of Print: The death and life of the American newspaper - The New Yorker
  Very long but is the most cited one. The main idea is decline of newspaper income and circulation.
• The tech world’s lesson for newspapers, traditional media - Ars Technica
  Discussion of above New Yorker article
• Finding Political News Online, the Young Pass It On - New York Times
  The way of consuming news is changed. People heard news from ‘social’ instead of reading/watching traditional media directly.

  Michael Arrington writes about business opportunity of blogging networks. Highly Recommended.

  A Point of view from TechCrunch editor, who just switched from jobs at Time Inc. He differentiate the way of work between both.

I have my thought on these as well but it’s quite dispersed. Need some more time to think and re-iterate my thought.

ผมเขียนบล็อกอันนี้ตอบบล็อกของ อ. ธวัชชัย ปิยะวัฒน์ เรื่อง UsableLabs 2551: ขบวนการผู้ก่อการดี โครงการแม่สีแสง สร้างเครือข่ายสารสนเทศภาคประชาชน

เรื่องในบล็อกนี้อยู่ในหัวผมมาซักระยะแล้ว อาจย้อนกลับไปได้ถึง 2-3 ปี ช่วงที่ผ่านมาผมรู้สึกว่า “รู้สึก” ถึงอะไรบางอย่างที่สำคัญกำลังก่อตัวขึ้นช้าๆ เพียงแต่ระหว่างนั้นผมเห็นแค่ภาพเป็นส่วนๆ ไม่ปะติดปะต่อ เหมือนคนตาบอดคลำช้าง คือมองไม่ออกว่าภาพรวมของสิ่งที่เห็นคืออะไร

ถ้าใครจำ speech อันโด่งดังของ Steve Jobs เรื่อง Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish ได้ (ฉบับแปลไทยโดยคนชายขอบ) ในนั้นจะมีอยู่ช่วงหนึ่งที่ Jobs พูดถึงการ “Connecting the Dots” ผมคิดว่าตอนนี้ตัวเองพอจะทำแบบนั้นได้บ้างแล้ว โดย ‘dot’ สุดท้ายที่ทำให้ภาพครบเป็นรูป (หรืออย่างน้อยก็เกือบเป็นรูป) คือ การเดินทางไป Leeds เมื่ออาทิตย์ก่อน และเมื่อกลับมามองย้อนดู ภาพที่ได้ก็เหมือนกับของ อ. ธวัชชัยอย่างน่าตกใจ (ซึ่งแปลได้ว่า อ. นั้น breakthrough กว่าผมมาก)
