ผมมีความรู้ด้านการเมืองอเมริกันค่อนข้างน้อย คือเท่าที่สื่อไทยนำเสนอ (เน้นว่าสื่อไทย) แต่ประเด็นที่ผมสนใจมากในช่วงหลังคือการนำอินเทอร์เน็ตมาใช้หาเสียง และประกอบกิจกรรมทางการเมือง ซึ่งจะเข้าใจปรากฎการณ์นี้อย่างแจ่มชัด เราต้องมีพื้นฐานของบริบททางการเมืองและสังคมสหรัฐ (ซึ่งต่างจากสังคมไทย) อยู่พอสมควร

นักการเมืองที่มีโมเมนตัมทางการเมืองสูงที่สุดในช่วงนี้ คงไม่มีใครเกิน Barack Obama และระหว่างการอ่านบทความเกี่ยวกับ Obama ในวิกิพีเดีย ผมก็บังเอิญไปเจอกับ speech ชิ้นสำคัญอันล่าสุดของ Obama เมื่อเดือนมีนาคม 2008 ชื่อว่า A More Perfect Union ที่ผลสำรวจบอกว่า ประชากรอเมริกัน 85% อย่างน้อยได้ยินคนรอบตัวพูดถึง speech อันนี้ (แต่กลับไม่มีสื่อไทยนำเสนอเลย เท่าที่ลองค้นดู)

เมื่อคืนผมจึงสั่งดาวน์โหลด speech อันนี้จาก YouTube (ด้วย YouTube Downloader ของ TechCrunch) และใช้เวลาตอนเช้า ดู ฟัง (และอ่าน transcript ประกอบตามไปด้วย) speech ความยาว 37 นาทีอันนี้

The module I enjoy most this semester at University of Sheffield is Information Retrieval, how the search engine works. Kudos to my lecturer, Mark Sanderson.

One of this module homework is evaluating one enterprise search system (beside of everybody’s favourite general-purpose Google). I apparently choose the search system I’m familiar with, Drupal. In this case, Drupal.org, the biggest known Drupal deployment and home of Drupal the CMS.

I prepared the slide for presentation and want to keep until my presentation session at first. But I came across with Robert Douglass’ blog, Drupal’s search compared to Google and Yahoo!. He discussed on almost the same thing with me but more in technical detail. I then decided to release my (small) work to public now.

ตื่นมาตอนเช้ามีอีเมลจาก SlideShare มาฉบับหนึ่ง สั้นๆ แต่มีข้อความดังนี้

อ่านจบแล้วก็งงๆ นิดหน่อย (เพิ่งตื่น) คิดไปคิดมาสักพักก็ “เฮ้ย นี่มันเท่โคตรเลยนะ” เปิด SlideShare ดูผลงานอย่างด่วน

ปรากฎว่าไม่มีครับ T_T (เพื่อความชัวร์กด Cmd+F หาอีกทีเผื่อหลงหูหลงตา ก็ยังไม่เจอ) ตอนนั้นเคว้งๆ อารมณ์เหมือนโดน SlideShare หลอก

แต่ลองหาดีๆ พบว่ามันอยู่จริงแต่ตกไปหน้า 3 แล้ว (ทำไมเพิ่งเมลมาบอกเนี่ย) การได้ขึ้นหน้า Featured คนดูเป็นหมื่นเลย (ข้อดีของการเขียนเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ)
